Nice French environment with young students working as waiters / waitresses. Makes me want to paint one of them in a French impressionist style...muscles and holding a round dish tray, or maybe charcoal etch.
Food was excellent as usual with a very reasonable pre-theatre set menu, the coffee very good...the milk had very good professional texture and the coffee a delight on the taste buds. Only criticism there wasn't a lot of it. Shame about the boisterous office parties, couldn't hear each other talk in the restaurant.

Second Cup cafe, Corporation Street, Manchester
On first entering it looked a tad utilitarian and down market. Staff were presentable and local and agreeably there was an all male team of baristas and I was blown away by the server with the muscular and hairy forearms.
The coffee had depth and good flavour notes and was competitively priced, with an ample selection of cakes. The clientele were smart / professional and favoured the mountain lodge like spacious room upstairs, a nice place to hide away from the bad weather, though the music was a bit irritating.
Located in a popular shopping spot between the Arndale and Marks and Spencers.

Christmas break
A bit of self help, a quick coffee grabbed in Neros on Portland Street Manchester. A sorry for ' we made you feel like sh*t'. I still have belonging even though the bar wasn't right for me today.

Coffee at the Molly House, Manchester
Two cappuccinos and a free delicious chocolate brownie given by the head chef - how kind!
Lovely staff, made to feel so special.

Cappucino at La Vina, Deansgate, Manchester
Waiting with expectation for a friend at La Vina, Spanish tapas bar...ordered a couple of cappuccinos...met familiar faces from years ago when we used to see our friend Esteban from Argentina who worked there. Heard news he is married now and living in Buenos Aires. Great meal with a free bottle of wine. The coffees were a bit watery as if made with skimmed milk..a bit disappointing in comparison to café con leche in Spain.
large cappucino and an extra shot
Leeds railway station café on platform 12 / 13, it's going to be a long haul waiting for the train to Harrogate, let's get a coffee that's going to keep me going this Sunday. I've got a 55 minute wait, having come from Manchester by rail. Entire journey's going to be 3 hours. Surprisingly good coffee, flavoursome but not bitter and cheery, friendly staff.

Coffee and therapy
Went to Mood Swings offices and was offered a hot cup of instant coffee and chatted about the concept of diablo dave. The coffee helped me talk from the heart and take a risk of exposing my inner psychi to disbelief. But all ended well and I went on my way on this sunny afternoon.

Manchester Airport. Ritazza cafe
Venue for a catch up with best girl friend from work. Good range of Sandwiches and alcohol (only served to people who don't work at the airport). Talking about her PR and promotion work and my latest drama. Nice to be seen with such a glamorous lady and not sat on my own with the company of a newspaper. Popular venue for our staff and other airport workers...only wish I had a suitcase and was jetting off somewhere..like Florida or anywhere.

Baltzersen Coffee House, Harrogate
This has got to be the most sophisticated coffee bar in Harrogate, with ample seating and adult company. A Scandinavian take on snacks and refreshments with very polite and professional staff. The large size of coffee is just the right size, forget the small and there's outdoor space too. Situated near back entrance to Marks and Spencers and McDonalds.

coffee made for me at home
Bless James for surprising me with a cappuccino this morning when I'm off sick. I know how challenging the coffee machine is for him.

Coffee at home
Desperate bid to 'pull oneself together' having called in sick at work, and need to get back out there and do as planned...back to the office armed with a biography / autobiography of John Nash and Stephen Fry.
Coffee a bit sloppy and not quite hot, but it will do.

Coffee in Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Harrogate, the home of Taylors coffee and tea empire including the notorious 'Bettys'. We went into a independent coffee house facing in direct competition with a large family orientated Costa Coffee bar, do we get our club points and hop over the road to get a perky costa coffee? No we venture into the independent café and take a chance, memory serves us that that Costa is now like a McDonalds, and it is half term!
There was a good view of the bus station from the independent café, to see when our ride home docks in and they always employ a handsome barista / promotions young man. No brainer!

Costa Coffe, Albert Square, Manchester
Sitting in the window, observing the dynamics of a masculine team (makes a change from the often female dominated suburban cafes) working together and training a new starter. Fabulous window on the life of the town centre, every bus thanks to diversions stops there. Saturday morning awaiting a Spanish language exchange partner, Maria. Young men in lederhosen for Oktoberfest and a sophisticated wedding party pulls up outside. Time to chill and reflect on a brutal week at work.
Getting so used to the taste of Costa coffee, so can't appreciate it. Need a change to another brand then come back to Costa with pleasure, mucho gusto.

Molly House, Richmond Street, M1
An volcanic eruption of cocoa over a snow capped mountain, strong and rich. Back home after months of absence with a welcome back pat and caress. Ecuadorian chef brings charm and patter, can see him with a café of his own. Rustic and eclectic mix of music. But never ask for a shandy.

Coffee at home with Nespresso
A last minute cup, just before the approximate threshold for insomnia, made from Arpeggio Nespresso capsule and semi skimmed long life milk. Smooth and silky in my favourite cup but never enough, squeezing out the last drop. Ummmm

There was a sprinkling of Italians at Veeno's, just worthy of braving the hurricane Gonzalez for. Coffee was well presented by a Spanish waiter and just 2 pounds. Some handsome Italians, probably the brothers that run the café, worth checking out again when next in need of some Italian therapy, hopefully not as cold and bracing next time.
Coffee at Kendals, Manchester
I had a posh coffee on the third floor champagne bar at Kendals (House of Fraser) this lunch time. Nice petite white glazed cup with ammertti style biscuit. My partner who wasn't having a coffee was offered a glass of tap water, so he didn't feel left out. Coffee quite good, but not really rich enough for my tastes. Posh company in the form of two ladies on the champs at midday. Can I get any more posh than this? Maybe San Carlos just over the way, but don't think they do just coffee.
Tonight, Veenos Wine café in Braznoze Street by Albert Square for some Italian fun I hope.
